ARTIST PROJECT INSPO:

Project inviting different artists to create work in response to toxic masculinity and men's mental health.

"
Alice Aedy is showing a photographic portrait of her younger brother, who has suffered with depression for many years, and worked with her on the series to “question the notion of putting on a brave face”. Alice says the shot “confronts the viewer with the isolation and withdrawal felt by those suffering with this silent epidemic”.
Eloise Knights and Jude Gardner-Rolfe are showing a film, Alpha Tools, that looks at the effect of controlling your behaviour to fit with restrictive ideas of masculinity. “Jude is a gay man, and so the ideas stem from his experience of dealing with the mental struggles of policing his own actions in order to be less outwardly ‘feminine’ growing up. We wanted the film to have an exhausting pace to it.”
Also on the roster for the show are Wilson Oryema, Oliver Macdonald Oulds, Raf Fellner, Greta Bellamacina, Carlo Volpi, Norm Magnusson, Celia Delaney and Eliot Fox."

Use over Time for Sex

DEFINITION

either of the two main categories (male and female) into which humans and most other living things are divided on the basis of their reproductive functions.

(chiefly with reference to people) sexual activity, including specifically sexual intercourse.

Throughout history print has be used to communicate new ideas and as a form of protest before the internet. It remains an important medium in communicating and has exponential uses when experimented with. The topic of sex in history through an inclusive feminist lens is an interesting topic to tackle through print as it utilises that medium used for protest. 4th wave feminists have been criticised for only using the internet to spread their views, as it does not reach as wide of an audience as assumed.  Using print with an intersectional feminist stance ensures this theme of inclusivity is central to both the medium and the direction.

Production Problems

As looking for alternative printing methods was the only way to produce the outcomes physically, the sticker pages were created and sent off...
