Rugby Flag Creation

= Importance of seeing the skill and the fact it is a team sport
= Not just there being one person
= Shouldn't have the focus on just one person but they should be at the forefront

= Mens adverts and designs on rugby typically show multiple people in action in the sport or one person with multiple pictures layered to create a profile effect
= As I am trying to portray the game in action and a sense of anticipation the former approach is more appropriate
= Don't want the illustration to be too complicated with too many people
= Structure of keeping a large form on the top left hand side is difficult with the images available for rugby as most of it is tackling and trying to reach the ground
= It might be more reflective of the sport to have the large focus on the bottom left hand side?
= There needs to be space for text as well

= Text is more difficult than the tennis one as there is less space for the letters to go without disrupting the players pictured
= I recreated this numerous times to ensure each word and bordered section balanced with each other and in the overall design

= Initially chose this purple pink as it is intense and therefore reflects the game appropriately
= The purple replaces the blue that is used on the rugby ball for england colours, so that the colours still feel different and interesting but still recognisable as the england team

= PEER FEEDBACK
= Design is balanced doesn't need further changes
= Colours feel more dull in this design compared to tennis = is there a reason?
= Rugby ball feels huge and doesn't work with the angle of the woman, she would need to be facing the viewer more

COLOUR VARIATIONS FOR VIVID QUALITY

= Sue immediately was put off by there being magenta used as the background colour
= She felt this was placing unnecessary emphasis on the fact it's depicting female sport, exactly what I was trying to avoid

= Darker more purple colours and original choice are more interesting colours

= POPS! Maybe too much contrast?

= Lightest colours together creates combined lighter tone which feels more vivid

= Looking at these variations beside the original tennis design was helpful in that I could see the level of vividness I needed to reflect

TO DO:
= Complete canooeing image, but if this is too difficult to find then it might be more appropraite to do one for football, which is a sport equally as under the scope of sexism
= This might also work better in the theme of most of the flags being on ball games?
= Look into where these could be printed and which possible matierals are most apprpriate = would need to be light enough to be held up by people

Production Problems

As looking for alternative printing methods was the only way to produce the outcomes physically, the sticker pages were created and sent off...
